News & Notes From Brother Kevin

Hello Church Family!

Good Morning Church Family!

I hope this week is off to a wonderful start! Things are busy here at the church - painting the fellowship hall begins today, and we will be having repairs and maintenance made to the sanctuary's sound system tomorrow. Also, please remember our upcoming meetings, ministries, and programs:

           - Trustees meeting tomorrow (Tuesday, Jan. 31) at 5:00 pm in the church parlor
          - Wednesday Evening Fellowship Supper and Bible Study (supper 5:30 pm; study 6:15) We will meet downstairs in the community room
          - Prayer Team meeting Sunday following the morning worship celebration
          - Confirmation class is meeting at 9:00 am this Sunday
          - The children's choir will practice at 9:40 in the sanctuary for their special music in the worship celebration - they will be singing this Sunday.
          - Directory Pictures sign-up for Feb. 4 & 5 - Please get your pictures made if you have not already done so. We need to get the new directory finished and in use.
          - Adult Hand Chimes resume after worship on Feb. 12.

Casey Farrington told us about the mission trip to the Bahamas we are supporting this summer. If you are interested in going PLEASE CONTACT CASEY THIS WEEK! We have to secure our spots. This will be an awesome experience. It is open to anyone in the church going into the 11th grade or older. The dates for the trip will be June 4-9.

We meet for a time of visioning and planning for this year. It was an awesome time - long meeting and difficult conversations were had, but produced some amazing goals for this next year. I appreciate deeply everyone who participated! The goals that were set are as follows in no particular order:

          - For our congregation to be learning to be more comfortable in sharing the gospel
          - congregational mentors
          - transportation ministry for children (to Sunday School, Awana, VBS, etc.)
          - transportation ministry for adults (for those who need a ride to services, studies, etc.)
          - come up with solutions for the church's storage problem
          - teams, committees,and groups to make records of where items are kept, as well as minutes for meetings, decisions, and programs
          - audio/visual updates to Sanctuary
          - update of technology for the church (website, social media outlets, etc.)
          - more membership involvement/ membership training for various ministries
          - begin looking at a ministry for our college age members - need and logistics of such a ministry.

This is a long list of goals to be accomplished in this year - but they can be achieved. Last year was a fabulous year for the mission and ministries of DFUMC - I am looking with great excitement and expectation for this coming year. Please begin to pray over these goals, and where you can help to serve to meet them. We are blessed here at DFUMC, but always blessed to be a blessing to others. PPR Team The PPR team will meet this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. to interview our first candidate for the position of choir director.

Youth The Youth will be having a Super Bowl party at the Blue’s home for MYF tonight. The van will leave the church at 4:30 p.m.

Wednesday Night Fellowship Meal and Bible Study is each Wednesday with the meal at 5:30 p.m. The Bible Study will be studying ways we seek and connect with God. The Bible Study begins at 6:15 p.m.

Prayer Team Meeting There will be a brief Prayer Team meeting immediately following the worship celebration, today Sunday, February 5. The meeting will be in the Prayer Room to renew our commitment for another year of praying. Anyone interested in being a prayer warrior, please join us.

Hand Chimes Hand chimes will resume on Sunday, February 12th following the morning worship service. Each practice will last approximately 30 to 40 minutes and will be held in the Fellowship Hall. If you are interested in hand chimes, please contact Carol Smith, 256-825-2603.

Wild Game Meal The Men’s & Women’s (CWIA) groups of Dadeville First will be serving a Wild Game Meal on Sunday, March 4th immediately following the worship celebration. Donations will be accepted to help with projects to the Men’s and Women’s groups.

Fellowship Meal Reservation Reservations must be made for the Fellowship Dinner so the correct amount of food will be ordered. Please complete the form below or call the church office no later than noon on Tuesday with your reservations. The meal will cost $6.00 per person. The meal starts at 5:30 p.m.
