Dear church family,
The rapily changing situation with the coronavirus outbreak continues to impact our communities, requiring us to respond as new information comes our way.
Moments ago, I received an email from Bishop Wallace-Padgett sent to all clergy with recommendations from her and the cabinet. Her email stated they fully support cancelling in-person worship tomorrow, March 15, and they’ll be posting a blog early next week urging all UMC churches in North Alabama to cancel in-person services for March 22 and 29 as well as a matter of precaution.
In an effort to support the request of our leadership and care for our community, we will cancel in-person services for tomorrow, March 15, as well as March 22 and 29. I will consult with others in our church to find a way to have a service using technology for March 22 & 29. I don’t know yet what this will look like (possibly live-streaming, recorded and posted on YouTube), but we will come up with something. I firmly believe in the importance of worship and fellowship. We want to continue that as much as possible, even if we can’t meet in-person right now. Call and check on friends and neighbors. If you’re able-bodied and not considered at risk, think about offering to do things to help others who are more vulnerable or at risk.
Follow the recommended guidelines we’ve all been hearing: wash hands, avoid touching your face, practice social-distancing, and stay home if sick. Additionally, eat well, get plenty of rest, try to get some sunshine and fresh air, and PRAY. The Lord will continue to provide for our every need and we can rest in Him.
Blessings in the Name of Jesus, Pastor Michael Carver
